Do You Want to be an Actor?

Have you even been to a murder/mystery dinner party?   If you have, then you know what I am talking about here.   At a murder/mystery dinner party, you are provided a role by your host, given some items that have to be worked into the conversation, and everyone works together to create the environment as if you where there taking part in the mystery and helping to solve the crime.   These parties are great fun, and everyone has a blast during the evening.

This is true for most households, unless, of course, you are spent an evening with the Scrooge’s at the Saxon Club in Austintown on December 5, 2014. Bah Humbug filled the air at the holiday dinner show titled “A Night at the Scrooges”.  Guests in this interactive mystery dinner enjoyed an evening filled with many prominent characters from Scrooge University…even the ghost of Ebenezer Scrooge made an appearance.

Get Baseline Readings for Your Camera(s)

When kicking around an idea for our #TechnicalTuesday topic, we stared talking about using cameras during an investigation.  Cameras (whether digital or film) are one of the essential tools used while performing a paranormal investigation.  We have done blog posts in the past on how to use them, and we cover this topic when we bring guests out for the first time, so we wanted a different twist on the subject and what we came up with is actually a pretty good idea, and that is getting baseline readings for your camera(s).

The Haymarket Massacre - The Birth of Labor Day

The Haymarket affair (also known as the Haymarket massacre or Haymarket riot) was the aftermath of a bombing that took place at a labor demonstration on Tuesday May 4, 1886, at Haymarket Square in Chicago. It began as a peaceful rally in support of workers striking for an eight-hour day and in reaction to the killing of several workers by the police, the previous day. An unknown person threw a dynamite bomb at police as they acted to disperse the public meeting. The bomb blast and ensuing gunfire resulted in the deaths of seven police officers and at least four civilians; scores of others were wounded.

Using your Xbox Kinect for Paranormal Investigations

You’ve probably heard of Xbox Kinect. Chances are you know at least one person who owns one, or you own one yourself. Microsoft developed the Xbox Kinect as a webcam-style add-on peripheral device that enables users to control and interact with their console or computer without the need for a controller, through a 'natural user interface' using gestures and spoken commands. Over 10 million units of the kinect have been sold worldwide. This popular gaming device isn’t just being used for video games anymore, however. People around the world have found an unexpected use for it- to detect ghosts.

The Rothwell Bone Crypt

The Rothwell Bone Crypt

Built during the 13th century, Holy Trinity Church is a medieval landmark in the town of Rothwell, England. However, beneath the church is a charnel chapel containing one of the creepiest sights ever found inside a place of worship: an entire room stacked with human bones.

Chinese Bound Feet

How it worked

The foot binding process was started before the arch of the foot had a chance to develop fully, usually between the ages of 2 and 5. Binding usually started during the winter months since the feet were more likely to be numb, and therefore the pain would not be as extreme.

StonehengeSunrise

When thinking about a topic for #MysteriousMonday, one place immediately came to mind.  That place would be Stonehenge.   Not that it is mysterious that it exists, but the mystery on how it could have been built some 3000 - 5000 years ago.  With a little bit of research we came across a website for Stonehenge that describes the four steps or stages that is believed to have taken place in the building of this fascinating and yet mysterious location.

The Relative Time to Object Theory (Trigger Objects)

trigger
The Relative Time to Object Theory is also sometimes known as the "Singapore Theory" (though how that name came to be assigned to this theory we are not aware).

In the Relative Time to Object Theory many investigators claim that paranormal activity will increase when an object, such as old furniture, clothing, toys, music etc. from that time period is brought into a location that used to have these objects during that specific time period. When the object is brought into the ...location the ghost that supposedly haunts the location will interact more, because the ghost can relate to the specific object.

After some serious flooding of the canal and its eventual closing, the town basically dried up and ceased to exist. Although there is still some physical remnants of the town (and canal), there are other non-worldly things that still existing in this area.

Renovation Theory

renovation-2
We recently polled our staff members on the concept of the paranormal related "Renovation Theory".
The Renovation Theory states that when renovations are made in a home or business that paranormal activity will start to pick up. It is said that the activity starts to pick up because the ghost is supposedly disturbed, by all of the changes being made to the home. If the ghost is a person that had died in the home and does not know they are dead they may still remain in the home because it’s something that is familiar to them. When the renovations start to occur you are changing something that the ghost is familiar with and you are disturbing the ghost.

The Birth and Death of Spirit Photography

The Birth Of Spirit Photography

gm_10226501On this tour, we going to go back to 1861.  Here we see Mr. William Mumler working as a jewelry engraver in Boston.  He leaves his post for the day and goes home for dinner.  After dinner is over, he enters his make shift studio where he dabbles about with photography.  Playing with this new medium is something that he enjoys very much, but it is not something he can do to pay the bills, yet.
